Welcome to Parking Spot Swap. By using our app, you agree to these terms.
1. Service Description
Parking Spot Swap is a community-powered parking spot exchange platform. Users can earn credits by offering their parking spots and spend credits to find available parking. The service facilitates peer-to-peer parking information sharing.
2. Credit System
Earning Credits:
- Offer your spot (+1 credit after 1-minute verification)
- Drop a pin for open spot (+1 credit when someone successfully parks)
- Accurately report a spot as taken (+1 bonus credit for keeping the platform accurate)
- Refer friends (+3 credits per signup)
- Power user bonus (+2 credits for 10+ parkings/month)
Spending Credits:
- Navigate to a spot (-1 credit when you tap "Navigate to Spot")
- Credit is refunded +1 bonus if spot is legitimately unavailable
Pin Drop Rewards:
- When you drop a pin to report an open parking spot you see
- If another user successfully claims and parks in that spot, you earn 1 credit
- This rewards users for contributing accurate parking information
Important:
- New users start with 0 credits
- Credits have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money
- Credits are non-transferable between accounts
- We reserve the right to adjust or expire credits at any time
3. Paid Hold System
How Paid Holds Work:
- Request a paid hold when navigating to an offered spot
- Hold rate is $2.00 per minute
- Available durations: 1, 3, 5, 10 minutes, or custom
- The spot holder must accept your hold request
- Payment is only processed if the hold is accepted
Fees and Taxes:
- A 5% service fee is charged on all hold payments
- Applicable sales taxes are calculated based on your location (destination-based taxation) and added to your total
- Tax rates vary by state, county, and municipality
- The spot owner receives the base hold amount minus a 5% platform fee
- All fees and taxes are clearly displayed before you confirm a hold request
Hold Extensions:
- If your hold time is running low, you may request an extension
- Extension requests are sent to the spot holder for approval
- Extensions are charged at the same $2.00/minute rate plus applicable fees and taxes
- Approved extensions add time to your countdown
Extension Decline & Partial Payment:
- If the spot holder declines your extension, the hold ends immediately
- You will be charged 50% of the payment for the time already held
- The spot holder receives their earnings minus the 5% platform fee
- Both parties are notified when an extension is declined
- No refunds are provided for time already used during an accepted hold
4. Spot Verification
Offering a Spot:
- You must remain stationary for 1 minute to verify your spot
- Moving during countdown (detected by GPS) cancels the offer
- This prevents fraudulent spot offers
Reporting Spot Unavailable:
- You must be within 100 feet of the spot to report it as taken
- If you appear stationary near the spot, you may be charged (parking detected)
- If you're driving away at over 10 mph, refund is allowed
- Accurate reports earn you a bonus credit for helping maintain platform accuracy
- False reports may affect your reliability score
5. User Responsibilities
- You must provide accurate information about parking availability
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to park in any spot you use
- You must comply with all local parking laws and regulations
- You agree not to manipulate the system through false reports or GPS spoofing
- You must confirm parking honestly when prompted by the app
6. No Guarantee of Availability
Parking Spot Swap does not guarantee the availability of any parking spot. Spots may be taken between the time of posting and your arrival. We provide information as a service but cannot control real-world parking availability. If a spot is unavailable and you report it legitimately, you will receive a credit refund plus bonus.
7. Pin Drop Validation
When dropping pins to report open spots:
- You must be within 1,640 feet (500 meters) of the spot location
- There is a 2-minute cooldown between pin drops
- You need a minimum 20% reliability score
- False pin drops may result in reliability score reduction
8. Reliability Score
Your Reliability Score (0-100) measures your trustworthiness within the Parking Spot Swap community.
Score Increases:
- Successfully completing a spot offer
- Having a dropped pin claimed by another user
- Consistent weekly activity
Score Decreases:
- Cancelling during the 1-minute countdown
